Sade is sassy, sarcastic, single and sanctified and fed up of it all. Oh she has just turned 50 as well.

Spring is springing, and my Rom com The Marriage Monitoring Aunties Association will be published in July by One More Chapter Books, Harper Collins.

So there is excitement, gratitude and hope. Hoping that you will fall in love with the characters in the book, cry, laugh and love along with their journey.

This is my much awaited cover reveal of my new book which is a Rom com. Very different than my last book - A Nurse’s Tale which was inspired by the life of a Nigerian nurse who worked in Guys Hospital, London during the second world war. The only war here is against societal expectations, Nigerian aunties and work deadlines.

I love the cover and yes that’s Sade in front and the women at the back with the speculative looks - they are every woman that has tried to other single women about their life, choices and status. Am I letting the cat out of the bag already?

Thanks to my cover designer Renike. Her work focuses on celebrating black women often portraying them in soft and subtle tones to challenge stereotypes. She has been featured in Vogue, GQ South Africa, CNN Africa and has a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. You can find out more about her work here Renike

If you have followed my journey, you will be familiar with my contemporary romances, short stories, poetry and historical fiction. My writing is deeply influenced by my Nigerian heritage and my experiences growing up in England and Nigeria. My works often explore themes of displacement, colonial history, social-political issues, and culture.

But I also write about relationships, faith and singleness and bring my own experiences of being black single female and in church. It was out of this that I found the character Sade – or shall I say she found me and the story kind of developed around that. Sade is sassy, sarcastic and fifty and I don’t think her family and church and the world are ready for her… but I hope you are.

This story isn’t just a book – its been with me over the past few years of growth, pain, rejection, redundancy, joy and freedom.
